FG, Hunpe, Yayi Charged to Curtail Barbaric Acts from Security Agencies in Badagry West

I write to express my inermost displeasure concerning the barbaric and unprofessional activities of the Nigerian security agencies at Gbaji area of Badagry West Local Council Development Area. Sequel to the closure of Nigeria land and maritime borders.

It should be recalled that as part of the measure to secure Nigeria's land and maritime borders, the Nigerian Customs Service, and the Nigerian Immigration Service in collaboration with the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security and intelligence agencies launched a joint border security exercise., codenamed "EX SWIFT RESPONSE".

The exercise is being coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser which is currently taking place in four geographical zones, South-South, South-West, North-Central and North-West.

This operation is believed to address trans-border security challenges such as terrorism, armed banditry, smuggling, proliferation of small arms and light weapons among others.

Since the commencement of this operation. The good and law abiding people of Badagry West,Lagos, Nigeria has been subjected to harassment and intimidation by the security personnels which is tantamount to gross violation of our fundamental human rights.

Our people cannot longer carryout their lawful activities in this axis as our farm products such as coconuts and fishes that are been taken to Agbalata market in Badagry central for sale are been impounded by security personnels at Gbaji check-point. As this is not enough, the personnels also raided Joforo village and whisked-away their fishes.

This village is the hub of fishermen in Badagry Federal Constituency.

However, the Nigerian Immigration Service in the same vein are also detaining, harrasing and molesting our people even with the possession of National ID card, Voter's card and other means of identity.

We cannot continue to fold our arms while we are been treated as foreigners on our father land.

We therefore call on the Federal Government and the office of the National Security Adviser to curtail the unprofessional and barbaric activities of the security agencies at Badagry west corridor of Lagos State.

We hope Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, member representing Badagry Federal Constituency cum Sen. Olamilekan Adeola, senator representing Lagos west senatorial district will register our grieviances at the upper and lower chambers of the National Assembly when both houses reconvene.

We also urge the National Assembly to set up a committee saddled with the responsibility of reviewing the activities of the security agencies at Badagry West Area of Lagos State.
