In a tweet via the force verified handle, they are quoted as follows:
"The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to a new Twitter handle known as “@policeNGfaux.” Be it known to the public that the handle does not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force."
"It is not only fraudulent but ostensibly designed to spread fake news and consequently tarnish the image of the Force. Members of the public are advised not to “follow” the handle and those currently ”following” the handle are advised to stop forth with" the handle maintained.
"Meanwhile, investigation is on to ascertain the source of the fraudulent handle and deal with it appropriately" it concluded.
Respondents to the news however pleaded with the Police force to channel their strengths to providing adequate security than getting into something that is a parody.
NPF official eventually made the parody's account popular. From 8k to over 20k!!— Lammillionaire⤴️ (@lammillionaire) September 17, 2019
He/she used Faux instead of force. And he/she clearly stated THIS ACCOUNT DOESN'T REP THE NPF. The level of publicity you gave to this account literally was priceless to the parody's. Gosbles Naija
