In the wake of xenophobic attacks metted out to Nigerians in South Africa, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has charged Lagosians to be law abiding and not used as a tools by criminal elements.
He promised to protect Lagos residents while the Federal Government takes diplomatic and proactive actions over the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
"I am saddened by reports of violent and criminal activities against legitimate businesses across Lagos over Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa" he tweeted.
He then concluded that "while the Federal Government takes diplomatic and proactive actions to protect our brothers and sisters, as the Chief Security Officer of Lagos, I will protect the residents of Lagos against any criminal elements flying pretentious nationalist flags."
Some Lagosians had reacted by attacking South African businesses earlier on Monday such as MTN, Shoprite, Stanbic Bank among others and this had led to the death of one person in the Lekki-Ajah axis of the state.
