We Have Lost Over ₦10 Million Due to the Boader Closure In Ajara New Market - Baba Oja

Chief Hoteyin Todowede, the Baba Oja - market leader of Badagry's second largest market Ajara New Market has lamented that over ₦10 million since last month have been lost over the closure of the boarders at Seme and Owode area of the community.

In a joint exercise conducted by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) code named ‘Ex-Swift Response’ which includes the Nigerian Customs, Immigration  Service, Police and Military Personnel the Federal Government ordered securing Nigeria’s land and maritime borders.

“Customers are no longer coming to the market to buy goods like before and we have lost over ₦10 million to lull in market activities." Todowede said.

“Some of our customers that used to come from Cotonou in the Republic Benin, Ghana and Togo are no longer patronising to the market. Marketers that used to buy rice from Cotonou cannot get it any longer because of the restrictions."

He however urged the Federal Government to always provide alternatives anytime it planned to introduce policies that might have negative effects on Nigerians.
