The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has directed that the Governing Council of the Rivers State University lift the suspension on recruitment for the academic and non-academic staff in the varsity.
He gave the order while commissioning the Students' Union building and also approved the construction of an ultra modern Senate Building.
Wike said he was compelled to making the decision considering that the negatives that has went around the suspension in 2016.
He noted that the lift was prompted by the report of the Committee set up to look into the matter. "I am satisfied with the report of the Committee therefore I have informed the Pro-Chancellor, Justice Iche Ndu (retd.), to go ahead with the employment exercise" Wike said.
Wike also encouraged the students to ensure that the building is properly maintained and also shun cultism, examination malpractices and kick against any form of harassment to the females.
It would be recalled that ONews Blog earlier reported that a 2016 1st Class Graduate, Buekor Nyornebari Grace, had pleaded with the governor to consider her plight as well as others.
